A Word from Superintendent Green: June 2019

  •
Dear Red Clay Families and Community Members:                                                                 Green

As we close out the 2018-19 school year, I want to thank you, our students, staff and community, for an incredible year. The outpouring of support and
gracious welcome that I received as Superintendent demonstrates the strength of our community.  It has been a humbling experience getting to learn, know and celebrate the wonderful diversity that is Red Clay.  I am motivated more than ever to work on behalf of children and families ensuring that Red Clay honors its commitment, “Preparing Today for Tomorrow!”

We had the distinct privilege of conferring close to 900 students with their high school diploma from Red Clay Public Schools. Many in the community, most importantly our families and educators, have supported our students along their journey from kindergarten to graduation. Our graduates are leaving us prepared and ready to positively impact our community.  As they enter a career, serve our nation through military service or extend their education, we hope they are also leaving Red Clay Public Schools fulfilled, motivated and focused.

Together, as a system of schools serving over 16,000 students, we have accomplished great things this year.  From holding our first annual  Career Signing Day to opening the first Wellness Center in an elementary school at Warner, we have had many firsts.  Thank you to our families, parent organizations, our community-based partners, elected officials, business partners, and many others who helped our schools and the district make so many gains.

If you have a student or family member coming back to Red Clay Schools in the fall, we will be working hard over the summer to prepare for a great 2019-20 school year. Our staff will be cleaning school buildings, preparing new classrooms for preschool, participating in trainings, and creating the conditions for student success. Building on this year’s positive relationships and principles focus, we look forward to greeting our students’ on the first day of school, getting to know you better and partnering to ensure your child’s story, strengths, and needs are known and supported.

Over the summer months, district staff will continue to engage stakeholders and I personally will seek opportunities to continue engaging the community. We will make sure that we share information via our website and through social media. If you have not already, please connect with us via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

I hope you have the opportunity this summer to spend time with your family, friends, and loved ones. I will be doing the same and taking some time to rejuvenate in July in preparation for the next school year.

It is a privilege to serve you, your child and this district. If you ever have questions, please contact my office at Superintendent@redclay.k12.de.us.

    Warm wishes,

    Mr. Dorrell Green,

    Superintendent
