Heritage and Brandywine Springs Welcome Kim Bearden
Heritage and Brandywine Springs partnered to open the new school year with an inspirational and motivating talk from internationally known educator Kim Bearden. Kim Bearden is the cofounder, executive director, and language arts teacher at the highly acclaimed Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the past nine years, over thirty six thousand educators from around the world have attended her workshops to learn better ways to engage students, promote academic rigor, and create a climate that promotes success.
Kim was recently honored at the White House for being included into the National Teachers Hall of Fame and has also been honored as the Disney American Teachers Awards Outstanding Middle School. The Milkin Family Foundation selected her to receive the Award for Excellence in Education and she was chosen from over 7,000 teachers as Teacher of the Year in Georgia. She was also named as one of Georgia’s Most Powerful and Influential Women. Kim’s book, “Crash Course: The Life’s Lessons My Students Taught Me,” made several bestsellers lists, including the LA Times Bestseller List.
The day included a motivational speech in the morning, a book signing, and a breakout session in the afternoon entitled, “Music, Movement and Magic in the Classroom.” Kim was phenomenal and several teachers remarked that she was “the best speaker they have ever heard.” The entire audience left uplifted and motivated to start a new school year.
