March 28th, students from Highlands Elementary School participated in a Rock Your Socks day. This day was to bring awareness to Down Syndrome. The Down Syndrome Association of Delaware promotes a Rock Your Socks day. This day was to support and advocate for the rights of people with Down Syndrome. It is also to educate students to be aware of what Down Syndrome is and how they can make a difference. This event was part of the Positive Behavior System that is implemented school wide. Not only did students wear socks of all different colors, they also were able to participate in a Sock Hop Dance if they rocked their socks. Students had to display positive behavior for the month of March to participate.
