Skyline Team places in Build a Bridge competition

DE Department of Transportation 2nd Annual Design a Bridge Competition

On May 1st 2019, Skyline Middle School 7th graders Kaden Netta and Joseph Bouney and 8th grader Thomas Mack participated in the 2nd Annual State of Delaware Department of Transportation Design a Bridge Competition with their lead mentor, Tracy Cameransi.  The team competed against 10 other Middle School teams consisting of 7th and 8th graders. Skyline placed 3rd overall in the competition which was a $600 prize. It was a rigorous competition that required students to build a model truss bridge of their choice using balsa wood.  The students utilized Bentley Software SMART 3D to draft their bridge and submit a formal proposal two weeks before the competition. Students also created a Powerpoint presentation that illustrated their research and design. The bridge was tested for strength using the Pitsco engineering scale.

We at Skyline a very proud of our future engineers!
