Red Clay’s Melissa Brady Named National Distinguished Principal

Melissa Brady, School Principal at Linden Hill Elementary School, has been named Delaware’s National Distinguished Principal for 2023 by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).Brady has been an educator for 20 years and has worked in Red Clay Consolidated School District (Red Clay) for the past eight years.  Additionally, under Mrs. Brady’s principalship, she has led her school to become a National Blue Ribbon School for 2022."Congratulations to our very own Melissa Brady for being named Delaware’s National Distinguished Principal of the Year for elementary schools,” said Mr. Dorrell Green, Superintendent of Red Clay Schools.  “This honor is a testament to her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our school and community. We are fortunate to have such an exceptional leader guiding our school to excellence.”A colleague described Brady as not just an ordinary principal; she excels in her role, responsibilities, and leadership; she goes above and beyond coordinating student supports for learners.“I am grateful and humbled to receive this recognition,” said Brady. “I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from highly effective leaders throughout my career, so I truly feel the shared magnitude of this accomplishment. Linden Hill is a special place to be, where we pride ourselves in living our school’s motto every day to Love, Lead, and Learn.”About the AwardThe National Distinguished Principals program was established in 1984 to recognize elementary and middle-level principals who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and climate for the students, families, and staff in their learning communities. The honorees are selected by National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) state affiliates and committees representing private and overseas schools.
