By now, you may have heard about a recent incident where a young student was left on a bus for the school day. This should not have happened and all of us in Red Clay are upset by this incident.
Even before the school day begins, our bus drivers work to make sure we safely deliver children to and from school. We are still investigating the incident. Despite multiple, required checkpoints, despite an alarm system on the bus, despite repeated training of the importance of checking the bus, we failed one of our students.
We are re-examining our transportation procedures, our attendance notifications and our technology to make certain we have a strong safety net in place to minimize the risk of this ever happening again.
Red Clay is a close community, and when something happens to one us, we all feel impacted. The safety of our students is always a top priority. Thank you.
