Energy and enthusiasm filled the gym at Baltz Elementary School on April 30, 2019 as third, fourth and fifth grade students, and teachers gathered for a pep rally to get ready for Smarter testing.
Each class brought a Lego brick with a different testing strategy written on it. Two representatives from each class carried the brick around the gym so all students could see the strategies written on them. Principal Amy O’Neill told the students, “We are here to celebrate the hard work you did to make yourselves ready to show what you know and what you have learned.”
Class representatives read their strategy aloud and students responded chanting, “Everything is Awesome”. The boxes were compiled to build a strategy wall. Upon completion of the rally, the Lego strategy bricks were carried through the halls and out to the playground.
Smarter testing is given in reading and mathematics for students in grades 3-8 during the spring. Spring testing runs until May 30, 2019. Dates and times vary within schools so it is best to check with your child’s school for a specific schedule.
