Band and Strings information

YOU can learn how to play an instrument!

• Students in 4th through 8th grades are eligible to participate

• Enrollment begins in late August and September 2023 at www.tinyurl.com/RedClayBand (registration closes September 14 at 3pm)

• Students may choose 1 instrument from those offered (instrument demonstration video)

  • Students with previous experience may choose to remain learning that instrument or begin a new instrument

• Lessons are once each week, with practicing at home between lessons

• Lessons occur on a pull-out basis; students WILL miss other classes in order to participate

  • Students are expected to make-up whatever work they may miss in the other classes.

• Instruments are available to borrow from school, or you can rent or purchase your own from a local music store

• There are typically 2 performances per year (winter and spring)

• Middle school students may only select string instruments via this method. To enroll in the band, please contact your school’s guidance counselor or band director.

  • Wednesday, August 30 at 6:30 PM at Richardson Park Elementary School, 16 Idella Ave, Wilmington 19804

  • Wednesday, September 6 at 6:30 PM at Brandywine Springs School, 2916 Duncan Road, Wilmington 19808

  • Our elementary band and orchestra directors will be there to explain the program, demonstrate the instruments and answer your questions. Representatives from area music stores will detail their instrument rental programs.
