  • 2nd Annual Father and Daughter Dance

    The next Community Schools event will be the Father and Daughter dance. Please save the date in your calendars and remind families to return the forms for an accurate headcount by 1/31/2019! It was a huge hit last year seeing everyone dressed up and connecting with the male figures in their lives. Hope you can attend.

  • My Very Own Library - FEBRUARY BOOK FAIR

    Hey Thanks to United Way of Delaware for sponsoring our book fair for the last three years. Students WILL receive books for FREE with no money exchange.     What is Positive Behavior Support? PBS is a school wide behavior support program aimed at promoting positive behavior while preventing behavior problems. PBS teaches and emphasizes proactive strategies so that academic and social successes can be achieved.

  • PATHS Model School

    All About PATHS – Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies. Shortlidge Academy became the one of the first in state of Delaware to receive such an honor. WEEK OF 1/7/2019: KN -Kindergarten discussed feeling "angry" and "mad". They learned what people's faces look like when they are angry and understand why people get angry. They learned ways to handle anger. Grade 1 - Reviewed the three steps for calming down. Grade 2- Reviewed routines and expectations.

  • Beyond Those Bars - Cultural Resoration Project Inc.

    Working with Beyond the Bars allowed us merge student success stories built around ATTENDANCE MATTERS. The project design supported students from K through 2nd grades and stressed the importance of good grades and coming to school on time ready to learn. Special thanks to Mr. Richard Raw and his wife, AliSah Watson from the Cultural Restoration Project for supporting our vision.
