Greetings Falcon Families:
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Stanton Middle School and to continue my work with our vibrant, diverse, and supportive community. While serving as an assistant principal at Stanton over the last four years, I have built strong relationships with students, families and the broader community. I plan build on these relationships to help shape the educational blueprint that will prepare our students for the future by developing their academic, social and emotional skills.
Undoubtedly, the 2020-2021 school year will present challenges never before seen in education. Knowing that we will begin the school year with remote learning forces us to reimagine many back-to-school practices. Though many people might view distance learning as an obstacle, I see it as an opportunity to examine the status quo and to develop new systems to improve the educational offerings at Stanton. Our focus will remain on building positive relationships with our students and families, supporting students’ social and emotional wellness, providing meaningful academic instruction and evaluating all of our practices with an equity lens.
I have three commitments for the upcoming year to support the growth of the entire community.
- Transparent Communication – Expect to hear from me regularly by phone and email with updates about our educational and social offerings at Stanton. I welcome two-way communication and encourage our community to reach out to share ideas and concerns. I will work with our bilingual staff to ensure open communication in both English and Spanish.
- Staff Development – I will ensure that our staff receives quality professional development in order support and educate our students in the best way possible. When our teachers and support staff work as a cohesive team, students will reap the benefits of consistency and quality.
- Student and Family Engagement – Stanton serves the community and I want to ensure that our students and their families feel connected and invested in our school. Remote learning presents challenges for student engagement, but we will work to identify strategies to encourage student interaction and to support students’ needs. As the school year progresses, I plan to create more opportunities for students and families to share their thoughts and ideas. Our students are the future – we need to make sure we equip them with the knowledge, skills, and voice to make it amazing.
I look forward to working in partnership with our families and community. Despite the unprecedented nature of this upcoming year, I am excited and optimistic about the future. Please continue to check your email, as more information will be forthcoming as we finalize our plans for remote learning. Thank you in advance for your support as we work together to ensure that all Falcons SOAR!
