School Starts the Week of August 30th

Red Clay schools are excited and ready to safely make a full return to in-person learning starting the week of August 30th, with all students attending five days per week and receiving instruction from teachers in their enrolled school.

We have made this decision based on the needs of our students and the guidance we have received from the Delaware Division of Public Health and the Delaware Department of Education, in accordance with the recommendations from the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses. Welcoming students back to the classrooms in person and surrounding them with caring educators and needed support is the best way to help them grow academically and re-engage in the learning and social environments that are critical to their development.

  • First Day of School: Monday, August 30th for pre-k, kindergarten, grades 1-6 and 9. Tuesday, August 31st for grades 7, 8, and 10-12.

  • Kindergarten Split Week: Kindergarten students have a split week from August 30th to September 2nd. All kindergarten students will attend on September 3rd. Please stay tuned for details from your child’s school.

  • Learning Format: Full day, in-person instruction 5 days a week.

  • Attendance: All students are expected to attend class on-time every day.

  • Health Screening: Complete the COVID-19 self-screener prior to coming to school every day. Stay home if you are experiencing signs and/or symptoms of illness.

  • Masks & Face Coverings: Universal indoor mask wearing will be required in accordance with the Governor’s Declaration of a Public Health Emergency issued on August 10th.

  • Hand Sanitizer Stations: Maintained in every school.

  • Athletics/Performing Arts: All activities are scheduled to begin on August 15th.

  • Student Transportation: Masks are federally required on all public transportation. Buses are sanitized daily and equipped with hand-sanitizer dispensers.

  • Online Learning Options: Personalized learning platform provided by Edmentum - Moving Education Forward. Limited availability. Open to students who have a documented medical need that requires online learning. Deadline to apply is August 23rd. Apply now.
