On August 31, 2023, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced more than $14.9 million in funding through the Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund, in partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, for 36 conservation projects in the Delaware River Watershed. Support includes more than $4.5 million from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for six projects that will improve public access, recreational opportunities, and water quality and enhance shoreline and wildlife habitat.

We are pleased to share that Red Clay Consolidated School District has been awarded a $228,283 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Federation for watershed restoration and environmental education within the Delaware River Watershed. 

“Within the boundaries of the Red Clay Consolidated School District alone, we have the Red Clay Creek, Pike Creek, Mill Creek, Brandywine Creek, Wilson Run, Chestnut Run, Hyde Run, Alapocas Run, Middle Run, Hershey Run, Beaver Creek, and the Christina River (totally 59.4 linear miles) which all flow to the great Delaware River,” said Brian Mattix, Supervisor of CTE and Science.  “However, with the amazing watershed in our district comes the important responsibility of restoring our watershed ecosystems from the harms of human impact through educational experiences that result in better environmental stewardship by our entire community.”
