Michael Simmonds

  • Director of Federal Programs

     

    Michael began his career as the Academy Director at Thomas Edison Charter School before joining Red Clay as the Assistant Principal at McKean High School in 2004. After four years, he became Principal at the Central School where he stayed until July 2015, when he was named Director of Federal Programs.

     

    Michael's educational experiences have afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being. His educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community and a supportive family.

     

    Michael feels fortunate to have the opportunity to nurture and support a dynamic learning community that works collaboratively to strengthen the academic and social achievement of students and the relationship between home, school and community.

     

    Michael is an avid athlete who believes physical activity is the best way to start the day.

     

    Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Relations and master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Administration, all from Cheyney University.
